4global recently led the second in-country mission alongside the Commonwealth Secretariat’s Sport for Development and Peace Team
4global recently conducted the second in-country mission alongside the Commonwealth Secretariat’s Sport for Development and Peace team, to aid the Ministry of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport (MCGES) in Jamaica in creating a monitoring and evaluation mechanism to measure the contribution of sport to national development.
Andy Preece, 4global’s Director of Strategic Services, has been working alongside the MCGES and the Commonwealth Secretariats Sport for Development and Peace team to provide the technical assistance to create a results framework and monitoring and evaluation system.
The requirements for such a system are listed as strategic national development priorities to be pursued in the area of sport under the Vision 2030 Jamaica National Development Plan (NDP).
A Commonwealth technical team conducted the first in-country mission in May 2019, including two national workshops attended by national stakeholders, followed up by the second in-country mission led by 4global’s Andy Preece in September.
On the project, Andy Preece commented: “This new framework that we are working towards will be a game changer for the Jamaican Government and will help them to realise the true contribution of sport to the national economy. It will subsequently enable the Government to put together an implementation plan to continue to value the benefit of sport to national development and grow the sector as a significant influence. For us at 4global, it is another demonstrator for how we can help Government’s and other organisations realise the potential of sport.”
