Egemen leads 4global’s Major Sporting Events service area globally. He has commercial and operational experience in both client and supplier organisations within the sports and major event industries.
Having worked on high profile projects with international and national federations, professional sports leagues, clubs and organizing committees, he has a strong understanding of the political environment of professional sport as well as the regulations and key bodies that govern it.
Egemen’s major event experience includes the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Lima 2019 Pan and Parapan American Games, the London 2017 IAAF World Championships, the England 2015 Rugby World Cup, the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games and the 2010 FIBA World Cup among others.
He served as an advisor to the UK Government between 2014 and 2018 on global sports projects. The assignments he delivered in this role included a research study of global scale, mapping all major sporting events that the UK Government should be targeting for export wins over the next 10-year period, their potential economic value to the UK and the approach it should take to realising that value. This study then formed the foundation for the UK Government’s strategy for major sporting events.
A former professional basketball player, Egemen has a Master’s Degree in Political Science from Bogazici University in Istanbul and speaks fluent English and Turkish.
