Lima 2019
Legacy Plan
The legacy planning process began in September 2016 with workshops and meetings attended by stakeholders and facilitated by 4GLOBAL. Siting at the heart of Lima’s plans for hosting the Games, COPAL wanted a legacy plan that would underpin all the long-term benefits for Lima and it’s people, ensuring the Games act as a catalyst to change people’s lives .
One of the earliest and most important legacies to already come from the planning process was the collaborative communication fostered by 4GLOBAL, which brought together many individuals and organisations that wouldn’t normally engage with each other. This enhanced communication not only enabled the development of the plan, but set the standards for effective communication and coordination going forward.
The resulting plan – Inspiring Our People – includes four inter-related Legacy Pillars, with illustrative action plans that provide examples of best practice to ensure Lima’s 2019 Pan-Am Games creates long-term legacy benefits before, during and long after the event .
