The Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre

Feasibility Study

As part of a consortium, 4GLOBAL delivered a needs assessment feasibility study for the Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre (LVHTC). The aim was to develop evidence-based recommendations to enhance the facility as both a major event and community venue.

The Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis centre is a high-profile multi-facility site located on the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in East London. It is the home of England Hockey international matches and a key element of the legacy plan for the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Supply and demand modelling was undertaken using a mixture of facility planning models and DataHub mosaic profiling of all hockey, tennis, sports hall, Artificial Grass Pitches and health and fitness facilities. We were then able to use this modelling to determine whether there was sufficient supply of facilities to cater for the current and future demand and provide an evidence base to inform proposals for alternative facility mix options for the site.

A number of development options and designs were created for LVHTC, which included business modelling detailing capital costs and projected annual revenues for each option. These options supported the needs and priorities of the facilities key stakeholders and provided solutions and options to increase the operational revenue generated at the LVHTC.
