Glasgow 2014

Commonwealth Games

4GLOBAL team members were engaged to lead various projects in both pre-bid, bid, planning and delivery stages.

Requirement

4GLOBAL team members were involved in the bidding phase where they led the pre-bid feasibility and impact assessment studies.

Immediately after the bid was won, the Organising Committee (OC) engaged 4GLOBAL to review and evaluate the overall risks associated with the Games and to advise on an appropriate contingency budget.

Concerned with the progress on the Games Security Programme 6 months prior to the event, the OC turned to 4GLOBAL once more time to direct and run the security programme.

Approach

Current 4GLOBAL team members led the completion of a detailed technical and financial assessment for the Bid Assessment Group.

Immediately after the bid was won, the Organising Committee (OC) engaged 4GLOBAL to review and evaluate the overall risks associated with the Games and to advise on and appropriate contingency budget, which was subsequently accepted by the Scottish Government.

In the final six-month run up to the Games, concerned with the progress to date, the OC turned to 4GLOBAL to direct and run the security programme. This involved ensuring that all elements of a highly complex programme were aligned and delivered.

4GLOBAL also supported the design and delivery of the readiness programme for the Main Operations Centre (MOC).

Outcome

The initial feasibility study informed the Scottish Government’s decision to support the City in its bid to win the 2014 Games and the subsequent programme management roles enabled the OC to plan and run the event, confident in its funding and security arrangements.
