Liverpool 2022
Feasibility and Bid
4GLOBAL was retained by Liverpool City Council to undertake a wide-ranging feasibility study into the rationale of bidding to become the UK’s Candidate City to bid for the 2022 Commonwealth Games following the withdrawal of Durban as Host City.
Approach
We worked as strategic advisors alongside the City’s team, led by the Mayor of Liverpool, to assess the sporting, economic and social impact of bidding for and hosting the Games in 2022. 4GLOBAL continued its work with the City and coordinated the joint bid with Manchester to the Department for Culture Media and Sport for 2022 Candidate City Status.
Outcome
Our work reinforced Liverpool’s reputation as a city with a strong heritage and passion for sport. The project generated a clear vision as to how future major events can be a catalyst to regenerate the city, grow its economy and use sport, culture and events as a springboard to enrich the lives of the Region’s citizens.
